Jeff Szer was the foundation Professor/Director of the Department of Clinical Haematology at Royal Melbourne Hospital. He was the inaugural lead of the Classical Haematology group of the Department of Clinical Haematology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Melbourne Hospital established in 2016 and has research interests in and has been PI on many trials in stem cell transplantation and Gaucher disease and paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH). He has authored over 400 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Internal Medicine Journal and on the Editorial Boards of Blood Reviews, Blood Cell Therapy, BMC Haematology, Blood Cells Molecules and Diseases and Bone Marrow Transplantation. He was the inaugural and only chair of the PNH Advisory Group of the Australian Life Saving Drugs Program and is a current board member of the International PNH Interest Group (IPIG), immediate past President of the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) and a past president of the Worldwide Network for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (WBMT) and the Bone Marrow Transplant Society of Australia and New Zealand.
